What is Worldview in Nursing? My Personal Reflection.

According to my worldview and nursing theory, Nursing is more than just a job; it is a calling. As a young girl, I always wanted to be a nurse. Then I wanted to be a doctor. Then I wanted to be a lawyer. But through it all, I knew that I wanted to help people in some way. What can be more rewarding than using your God-given talents and abilities to help someone else? I  decided to pursue nursing as my career after considering all options. . It is a chance to serve others and make a real difference in their lives. Nurses are essential to the health care team, and they play a vital role in the overall care of patients. I  was eager to be part of that team and kickstart my nursing career.

A worldview is a comprehensive set of beliefs about life and the universe that a person holds. It encompasses religious, political, and moral beliefs as well as one’s feelings about themselves and their place in the world. The nursing process is a systematic problem-solving approach to nursing care that guides nurses in the provision of safe and effective care. It consists of five steps: assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Nursing is a profession that requires strong ethical values and a commitment to serving others. Nurses must be able to see beyond their perspectives and be open to different cultures and beliefs. Nurses should identify the unique needs of each patient and develop a plan of care that is tailored to their situation. Identifying patient needs requires nurses to be open-minded and willing to consider alternate viewpoints. You must also be able to see the world from the perspective of your patients and understand their culture and beliefs. The nursing process is an iterative process that can be adapted as needed based on the individual patient’s situation. As nurses, we must constantly be learning and growing to provide the best possible care for our patients.

I am confident that my worldview and my nursing process personal statement will help me succeed as a nurse. My worldview is grounded in faith, and it motivates me to do good works and serve others. My nursing process personal statement will also help me because it highlights my strengths and skills as a nurse. I am patient, compassionate, and attentive to detail, and I have a strong desire to help others. These qualities will boost my nursing practice, and I am confident that I can make a positive impact on the lives of patients.

Worldview and Nursing Theory – Nursing Philosophy

Nursing is based on a philosophy of care that upholds human dignity, respects the autonomy of individuals, and provides holistic care. Nursing involves the application of specialized knowledge and skills to assess, diagnose, plan interventions, and evaluate the effects of nursing care. Nurses collaborate with other health professionals to ensure that patients receive comprehensive and individualized care. The nursing philosophy is founded on the belief that all individuals are deserving of respect and compassion. Nurses provide holistic care that includes the physical, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the patient. They work to maintain the autonomy of the individual while also providing necessary support and guidance. Nurses are advocates for their patients, ensuring that they receive the best possible care.

Nurses are responsible for providing and coordinating patient care. They work to promote the health of patients and to help people recover from illness or injury. Nurses also provide education and support to patients and their families. They also act as advocates and caregivers who strive to maintain the highest level of patient safety and well-being. Nurses have an important role in the health care system by providing direct care to patients, as well as by serving as educators and advocates. They are important members of the health care team and work collaboratively with other health professionals to provide quality care to patients while supporting their families. A nurse’s philosophy is based on their personal beliefs about nursing. This includes their views on the ethics of care, patient autonomy, and the nurse’s role in the healthcare team. Every nurse develops their philosophy as they gain experience and learn about different aspects of nursing.

Worldview and Nursing Theory – My personal worldview

My worldview is Christian, and it has guided my professional and academic decisions. In my experience as a registered nurse for two years, I have come to realize that my faith directs me to see patients holistically, meeting them where they are both physically and emotionally. Because I understand that all people are made in the image of God, I am called to respect their intrinsic worth and provide compassionate care. Nurses who have a Christian worldview are likely to view patients as individuals who are made in the image of God. This intrinsic worth means that each person deserves to be treated with respect and compassion, regardless of their race, socioeconomic status, or religious beliefs. A nurse who subscribes to this worldview will also likely be more interested in meeting the patient’s physical and emotional needs than in simply fulfilling their medical duties. In my nursing practice, I have found that taking the time to get to know my patients and build trust has led to better outcomes for them. For example, one patient I worked with was dealing with a great deal of stress due to her job and personal life. By taking the time to listen to her and offer support, I was able to help her manage her stress and improve her overall health.

To provide truly holistic care, we must be able to see the world from our patients’ perspectives. This is essential, especially when it comes to working with patients from different cultures. I have had the opportunity to do this during my nursing shifts, where I have worked with patients from a variety of backgrounds. I am grateful for the lessons I have learned and the new perspectives I have gained. One such lesson occurred when I was caring for a patient from India. This patient’s culture is greatly influenced by Hinduism, which has a strong focus on karma and reincarnation. As a result, this patient believed that everything that happened to them in this life was due to their actions in a previous life. This perspective can be difficult for nurses to understand and accommodate, as we typically operate from a more scientific perspective, where bad things happen to people for no reason. However, if we take the time to learn about our patients’ cultures and beliefs, we can better accommodate their needs. In this case, I worked with the patient’s family to create a treatment plan that took into account his beliefs. We made sure to discuss his illness and treatment plan in detail so that he could understand what was happening and why. By doing this, we were able to provide him with the best possible care.

Another area where cultural understanding is essential is in the realm of communication. Nurses must be able to communicate effectively with their patients, regardless of their language or cultural background. In some cases, this may involve learning a new language or using interpreters to help bridge the communication gap. It’s also important to be aware of the cultural customs and norms that are specific to your patients’ cultures. For example, some cultures may have strong beliefs about personal space, while others may have different expectations for nurse-patient interaction. By being aware of these customs and norms, nurses can better accommodate their patients’ needs. In a globalized world, nurses are increasingly likely to encounter patients from diverse cultural backgrounds. We must take the time to learn about our patients’ cultures so that we can provide them with the best possible care.

Worldview and Nursing Theory – Nursing Theory

Nursing theory is a body of knowledge that guides nurses in the provision of care. It is based on the scientific method and is constantly evolving as new knowledge is discovered. Nursing theory provides a framework for thinking about nursing and the provision of care. There are many different nursing theories, but all share a common goal: to improve the quality of nursing care. Each theory has its unique perspective on nursing and offers different insights into the profession. Nursing theory provides a foundation for the practice of nursing, defines the role of the nurse, guides the provision of care, and stimulates research that leads to improved practice. Virginia Henderson’s theory stresses the need for patients to be independent and perform activities that will promote their health. Nurses are expected to provide optimum care to meet all the needs of patients. My nursing assumptions align with Henderson’s theory on nursing practice. Her approach allows nurses to be creative and innovative in their approach to care and to adapt to the individual needs of each patient. Henderson’s theory also focuses on the importance of communication and collaboration between nurses and patients, as well as between nurses and other members of the healthcare team. This collaborative approach helps to ensure that each patient receives the most effective care possible until they gain independence.

My nursing philosophy involves providing patient-centered care based on four concepts according to Henderson’s theory. They are; Individual – The individual may require assistance to achieve independence and health or die peacefully. Henderson stated that the individual’s mind and body are interrelated in any aspect, including biological, sociological, psychological, and spiritual components. The patient is presented as combined parts with biopsychosocial needs. The environment – The environment is a setting where individuals are influenced to learn different living patterns. The external conditions also affect the life and development of a person. The environment also includes relations between families. Health – In Henderson’s theory, health is the ability of an individual to perform tasks independently. It also states that we should focus on disease prevention of disease and promoting the health of our clients. Having good health is a challenge because it is affected by many factors; age, cultural background, gender, lifestyle, and emotional balance. Nursing – For Henderson, nursing assists individuals in achieving their needs if they lack the necessary strength, will, and knowledge to satisfy them. The primary goal is for the nurse to assist and support the individual in attaining independence. The nurse needs to have the knowledge to perform individual and human care as per the physician’s therapeutic plan and be a scientific problem solver. These four components are influential in my practice and assumptions that patients’ needs must be fulfilled and that nurses must promote in their patient care. Therefore, this theory acts as a guide to my daily nursing practice and decisions made relating to taking care of patients.

How my Worldview and Nursing Theory will help in Developing my Future Practice

My worldview, shaped mostly by my religious beliefs, has led me to develop a nursing theory that views the patient as a unique individual with an innate desire to heal. Informed by this theory, I am committed to providing holistic and compassionate care to all patients. My future practice will be based on this theory, which will guide my assessment of patients, determination of their needs, and planning of care. By understanding the principles underlying my worldview and nursing theory and applying them in my practice, I will be able to provide the best possible care for my patients. The theory will help me engage in evidence-based research that will contribute to the practice and delivery of safe and efficient care to patients. The theory will also help me research how care in our clinical setting can be improved, including the need for a change in hospital practices and policies to improve the quality of care offered to patients.

In summary, My worldview about nursing impacts the need to treat everyone with respect and compassion, regardless of their race, socioeconomic status, or religious beliefs. Nurses need to consider important aspects of health that as cultural, spiritual, and religious beliefs, to provide effective and efficient care. Henderson’s nursing theory focuses on beliefs and values that I use in my nursing practice. Nurses need to understand the theories used in the past to impact the current nursing practice. This will help them reflect on their philosophies and work toward providing better care. Therefore, I believe that practicing existing nursing theories together with my philosophy will impact my future practice as a nurse.
